Mixing Paint – 2020 30.5 ” x 35.5″

As we walked into Paint Mines State Park (El Paso County Colorado), it was a cool, crisp April morning. Snow still covered the top of the canyon. We explored the pink and yellow rocks that provided Native Americans pigments for their ceremonies and paintings. As the sun rose over the rim of the small canyon, the snow melted, bringing the pigments along with it in the age old process of water eroding the earth. Our path down turned into a small stream with colors blending as they flowed, sparkling in the sun.
